Coverage built for landscapers
General liability
Damage to a client's property or injuries to others, like a rock thrown by a mower or a sprinkler line cut during a dig.
Workers' compensation
Required in Utah for businesses with employees, and needed if you hold a DOPL contractor license.
Commercial auto
Trucks and the trailers you pull, plus hired and non-owned auto for crew members who drive their own cars.
Equipment floater
Mowers, skid steers, trimmers, and blowers, whether they're stolen from a trailer or damaged on a job.
Herbicide & pesticide coverage
Overspray or drift damage to plants and property, which some general liability policies limit or exclude.
Commercial umbrella
Extra limits above your liability and auto policies when an HOA or commercial contract asks for more.
Gaps we check on every review
Having a policy and being properly covered are two different things. When we review insurance for landscapers, these are the claims we look for first:
- Chemical drift or overspray claims excluded by the pollution wording
- A trailer full of equipment stolen overnight with no equipment coverage
- Snow removal slip-and-fall claims that your policy doesn't cover
- Crew members driving personal vehicles between jobs

Frequently asked questions
Does my landscaping policy cover snow removal?
Not always. Some policies exclude snow and ice work or limit it, and slip-and-fall claims from plowed lots can be large. Tell us if you plow or shovel, so we can make sure it's covered.
Do I need a license to spray weeds or fertilizer with pesticides?
In Utah, applying pesticides for hire generally requires a commercial pesticide applicator license and a pesticide business license from the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food. Insurers often ask about it too, so have your license info ready.
Can you issue certificates for my general contractor or property manager?
Yes. Once you're insured with us, we handle certificates of insurance and additional insured requests, as allowed by your policy.
I already have insurance. Can you still look at it?
Absolutely. Many contractors call us for a second look before renewal. We'll review what you have and tell you plainly if we see gaps.
